Using the latest Internet and database technologies, ActiveFacility has developed a system to manage construction industry data.
The system is based on the ISO standard for the interoperability of data within the construction industry – ISO/PAS 16739. This standard defines the objects and attributes required to describe a building.
The ActiveFacility system supports three broad functional capabilities.

ActiveFacility uses the ISO standard to provide a permanent data repository for information that is required throughout the lifecycle of a building, in a Unified Building Model.
Utilities to import data from the various files and formats used by participants in a project (including consultants, contractors, building managers, etc.) ensure the data from these various sources can be reviewed and analysed as a single model.
The Unified Building Model is accessed through the Internet using a browser on a user’s computer.
The ActiveFacility system provides services to store, archive and manage access to all project documentation.
There are tools to navigate, search and display all documents on a given building and the model enables users to query, search, analyse and display information about the entities within the building.
ActiveFacility provides tools to enable project participants to share information, be notified of changes and collaborate on project tasks using the centralised repository for project information.
