- Provides a gateway so data can be exported to users for external applications.
For example:
Information about a building can be forwarded quickly and easily to architects for use in future renovations, thereby forgoing the need and cost of re-building the information.
Thermal performance software can use the existing information to analyse the building for an energy audit without having to pay for data collection and entry of that information into the thermal performance software.
In the case of fire or other disasters, emergency services can plot access and evacuation paths through a building using the model server.
All data is supplied in the IFC standard file format. This is an internationally sanctioned format for describing building data that enables interoperability between different applications. This format is widely supported by construction industry applications including: Autodesk AutoCAD, Bentley Systems Microstation, Graphisoft ArchiCAD and Microsoft Visio.
The capabilities of each of these applications varies greatly, so ActiveFacility Export creates an appropriate IFC file for each application, based on the area of the building and the ‘domain’ (architectural, facilities management, construction management, electrical or HVAC).
Advantages:
The data supplied to external consultants is derived from the current building data, which ensures it is the most accurate available.
Data can be exported by consultants without involving the building owners, managers or facility managers.
Benefits:
Reduction in costs associated with validating as-built drawings prior to issue.
Reduction in costs associated with redrawing as-built information by a consultant.
Elimination of possible inaccuracies associated with redrawing building data.
Reduction in the time it takes to issue drawings.
